Consumers interested in classes, seminars or workshops held at BCCIL must register three days in advance. A request for ASL interpreter may be made up to three (3) days before an event. Wednesdays starting February 1st, from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. MEN ON DISABILITIES (MOD) SQUAD Gentlemen, join Brazoria County men as we talk to each other and draw strength and confidence from one another. Friday, February 3rd, from 1:30 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. BASIC COMPUTER CLASSES Pre-registration required. Learn basic computer skills such as, how to use Microsoft applications, surf the Internet, and send e-mail. Tuesdays & Fridays from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. (Except for Tuesday, February 14th and Friday, February 24th) TAKING OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY (TOPS) Come join BCCIL for our newest peer support workshop series that focuses on developing healthy eating habits & sensible weight management. Thursdays, from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. DISABILITY SUPPORT TEAM MEETING (DSTM) BRING IT TO THE TABLE Come join BCCIL's new dynamic social event as we have lunch and discuss issues that are important to you. Tuesday, February 7th, from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. DSTM / VALENTINE'S SOCIAL Come join BCCIL for an afternoon of fun as we celebrate Valentine's Day. Tuesday, February 14th, from 1:30 P.M.-3:00 P.M. BCCIL HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING Come join BCCIL as we discuss housing and transportation issues that are important to you! Tuesday, February 14th, from 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. V.I.P. Trip Visually Impaired Persons peer support group will take a trip to Houston to see the "Going Blind movie". We will leave from the BCCIL office by 9:00 A.M. SHARP. Please R.S.V.P. by Friday, February 3rd, if you would like to ride with us to the event. Saturday, February 18th, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. MOVIE DAY SOCIAL Come join BCCIL for an afternoon of fun and games in a relaxed atmosphere. Friday, February 21st, from 1:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. BCCIL NEW PEER SUPPORT GROUP FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS Come by BCCIL for our new peer support group, VIP's, specifically for people with visual impairments. (A Brailing class will follow the meeting at 1:00 P.M.) Friday, February 24th, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. CONSUMER ORIENTATION TO BCCIL SERVICES Turn your life around by becoming more independent in thought, word, and action! No appointment necessary. Thursdays from 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. EXPECT RESPECT Pre-registration required. All too often, people with disabilities suffer abuse at the hands of caregivers. If you have a disability and you want to learn about effective ways to reduce the risk of abuse in your life, come join BCCIL's newest workshop that will offer support and instruction on this topic. Wednesdays, 1:30 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. A.D.A.P.T. A.D.A.P.T is a national grass-roots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in non-violent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom, Definition of A.D.A.P.T.: American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today. Come join BCCIL as we build our Local Gulf Coast A.D.A.P.T. chapter and Lunch will be provided. Saturday, February 25th, from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. WOMEN ON THE MOVE Join women with disabilities as we share experiences, build success, & increase the Sisterhood. Our topic for this meeting will be "Focusing on Women's Health" & our speaker will be Maria Palacios. Tuesday, February 28th, from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M |
